I am sure many of you have heard that Duke University is running a peanut desensitization study. Basically, they give kids very small doses of peanut in the beginning and gradually increase the dose over time. The idea is that the body will become desensitized and it will reduce the likelihood a reaction in the case of accidental exposure. It is my understanding that is not a 'cure' perse rather will reduce the likelihood of a substantial reaction to small doses? I am still learning about the study.

I am considering enrolling my son in the study. Any advice, would you consider doing the same?

Just FYI -

There is a thread about this topic at ... light=duke .

I know this study is for peanuts, but if, for example, it were for milk, there's no way I would enroll my child, because I've seen how he reacts to milk. I don't think I could enroll my children in this kind of study, personally. But that is just my opinion for my family - I don't mean for it to influence anyone else.
