Now I know what it feels like to receive a dose of epinephrine! Today I was getting a root canal done, and when the endodontist was preparing my tooth for the procedure with the anaesthetic, I got a sudden RUSH of a strange feeling run through my body, followed by a very hard and rapid heartbeat. My heart was beating SO hard, and I felt SO weird! When he saw my reaction, he said, "Oh, that's the epinephrine. Most people don't feel it, but it's intended to help the anaesthetic hold throughout the hour long procedure. People that are smaller (I'm not a big person) or haven't eaten much may feel the effects." Anyway, now I know what SOME people feel when they receive a dose of epinephrine!! What a surprise. He said the feeling will pass in a few minutes. I'm glad I am aware of this and thought I would share for those that may not have experienced it, or would like to know how others may feel after a dose of epinephrine.

Good to know, Julie. My only experience was when DS got an epipen at school last year. He didn't seem to have this type of reaction so I guess it depends on the person as well as weight, food eaten, etc. Hope the root canal went ok!
