In regards to Peanuts/Tree Nuts

Thank you very much for your recent email and interest in Tim Hortons
products. We understand how frustrating it is to deal with an allergy and
are happy to respond to your inquiry regarding the removal of nuts/peanuts
from our restaurants.

While Tim Hortons is seen as a coffee and baked goods restaurant, we are
also a fully functional bakery. Since our products are not sold in sealed
packages, we cannot guarantee that those products which do not contain
nuts, have not come into contact with nuts at some point.

If we were to eliminate the products that contain nuts/peanuts from our
menu, unfortunately, we could still not guarantee that we were safe for
people with allergies. For Tim Hortons to be considered completely safe,
we would also need all of our suppliers to certify themselves nut-free.
Currently, most of our suppliers are not able to guarantee 100% allergen
free environments. While we understand that there are increasing numbers
of manufacturers which produce nut free products, these manufacturers are
producing limited selections of sealed products which are being sold in
retail environments.

Our Research and Development department continues to examine ways in which
we can address our customers’ allergen concerns. Unfortunately, at this
time we must inform all customers with life threatening allergies that for
their safety, they should refrain from consuming our products.
The welfare
of our customers is our first concern and we are hopeful our recommendation
will be accepted.

Thank you again, for taking the time to share your comments. We welcome
the opportunity to discuss this further. Please feel free to contact us at
