We were out at the park today, and I'd brought Kate's (22 months old) food but didn't know how to make the picnic table safe (we use sticky placemats and a high chair cover or our own booster seat at restaurants). So Mommy had the *ingenious* idea of using the changing pad (yes, I wiped it VERY WELL) as a placemat. It was heavy enough so that it didn't blow away, waterproof, and large enough so her food stayed in the center and didn't go on the wood with goodness knows what soaked into it. And when she was done, I just wiped it off! NOW I'm going to put our spare (never used) pad in the diaper bag for future use (because we still need our changing pad for the OTHER use).

But I thought I'd pass the tip along to whomever might have little ones with allergies!

Kate - born 11*17*2005 - allergic to eggs, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, dust mites
Amanda - born 5*31*2008 - dairy sensitivity
Mom - dyshidrotic eczema, teenage-onset allergy to fish, but skin tests are now oral challenge.

Good idea! Amazing how one can find other uses for supposedly "single-purpose" products. ; )
