I made Grandma's Peabutter cookies from the peabutter website today with my PA son. They were a hit and tasted like the peanut butter cookies I use to make. We even threw in a few herseys chocolate chips. Yummy.

I have an 11 year old that is extremely allergie to peanuts/nuts. I have never given him peabutter because the thought of it freaks me out a little. However my husband and I eat it as we have no peanut/nut products in the home. It is identical to peanut butter in consistency and I believe in taste too. Excellent product and now available at many grocery stores.

I would never try it. The taste and the smell disgust me to the uttermost point. So trying something that taste and smells like it does not enchant me at all.

I seriously don't understand how can people who are allergic to peanut butter consider eathing that. Really, why? I don't get it.

I eat it b/c I can't have the real thing! I can't tell the difference now, and find myself preferring it over the real thing. ( for those 2x a yr I get it) My son with the allergy has no desire for it & we don't push it on to him. My oldest prefers the real thing & often goes to my sisters for p/b picnics! To each his own I guess.

I just had an opportunity to try it at the Allergy Expo and was really impressed -- so I picked up a jar. When I brought it home, my husband really liked it too -- I'm happy we've found a product to tame the PB and J cravings now! I checked to see if my local Loblaws carried it, and they do, but for $6.19 a jar - ouch!

How was the Expo, was there any other new products out there. I found out a/b it on the Fri or would have like to have gone.

I have even made my fav. a pb & banana sandwich & it cut's the craving! Happy munching!

hickmom, the Expo was really good...check out the discussions under "Other Allergic Topics" -- I also posted a message under "Shopping" about one of the vendors (Nonuttin' Foods Inc.) that was selling an "allergy aware" ganola bar.

I also tried the one at the Expo, but I found it a little too sweet (and if I recall correctly, sugar was pretty high up on the ingredient list). Does anyone know of a less sugary version? Not that this would be an essential in my house, since my 3 year old was freaked out that it tasted so much like PB (and she wouldn't eat it), but I do like peanut butter and it would be nice to have something similar.

As mentioned above, Walmart grocery sections carry Peabutter. Walmart has the lowest price I've seen anywhere. My Loblaws are now pricing it at over $6.00!!

My oldest DS (5 1/2 yrs old) is allergic to nuts so we buy No Nuts Peabutter instead. My kids don't like it (either does DH) but when I have a peanut craving I eat Peabutter instead. I has a definite nutty taste but not quite a peanut taste. I haven't tried baking with it yet though.

I also noticed that Wal-mart sells it too now. It's between $4 and $5 I think which is right in line with Zehrs (Loblaws) prices.

My husband found it at Dominion this week for $1.99.

I assume it's on sale, so we're stocking up on it.

What are the other "Dominion" stores? Where in TO? I may have to get my dh to pick some up on his way home from work on Sat. or is it just on salefor this week? I'd be buying as much as possible at that price. The lowest in our area is $6.59!!

hickmom, sorry, I didn't get back on line until today. (Doctor's orders I have to keep my foot raised - and it's really difficult to type in this position.)

I haven't been out of the house in a few weeks. My husband has been doing the shopping, and all he told me was that he found it that price at Dominion. It was regular price at other stores that he checked.
