I've been looking for a stainless steel water bottle with an easy to use spout for the 4-6yr old set that one can open without having to touch the part that one drinks out of. Most bottles, including our Klean Kanteen, have a pull spout, which means if your hands aren't completely clean, you are transferring germs or allergens onto the piece you are putting your mouth on. I would also prefer not to have a plastic straw that the water is in contact with the whole time, which to me, defeats the purpose of using stainless in the first place.

So far, I have found this which is great, but we have broken three of them in about 8 months, and I have been really gentle (no dishwasher) since the first set broke. Their straw top is quite complex to disassemble and clean. . .

This one might be good, and you can use it without the straw just by tipping it like a cup, but I'm wondering if you will end up touching the mouthpiece when closing it. ... -1007.html

Also, there is this ... B001FVD3RA but the reviews are not great, and it seems once you break the spout, you are out of luck.

What do you guys do?

We just got new ones from Costco that are plastic and you do not need to touch the spout. They have a button to push at the back so don't know if younger kids could do it or not. Brand is Contigo - they come in a 3 pack with different colours. Bonus is that the lids match the water bottle. They are very comfortable to hold and with out recent heat wave we have been using them a lot!
