This year I am having horrible allergies even with prescription medications. The pollen levels here are apparently very high, and I think I am just being bombarded left and right with so many things I'm allergic to my body has gone into overdrive reacting. I'm currently taking extra-strength Reactine, Nasonex, and Pataday eye drops and I'm still having symptoms, especially when I go to homes with pets or am outside all day. In about a month I'm going to a disability-related conference where I know there will be a lot of service dogs, and I'm worried about how I'll cope! I was there last year and my allergies were TERRIBLE, I could barely participate in the conference events due to allergy and asthma symptoms, and last year my allergies weren't near as bad as they've been so far this year ...
I feel like I've allergy-proofed my apartment as much as I can. With my current medication regimen I have minor symptoms at home, but it's manageable. It's when I get out into the wider world that I can't control where things sometimes get unbearable and seriously affect my productivity, even with the medication. I have been to my doctor and allergist last year, and they just say I need to get allergy shots if medications are no longer working well, but I need something to tide me over until I can fit that into my lifestyle.
Any ideas??? After this year I am pretty sure I'm going to give allergy shots a try, as I'm so tired of not feeling well all the time and being allergic to so many things I can't avoid.
