Yes...and it won't be long before they drop the "corn" from the "corn sugar" and then there is no way of knowing what kind of sugar is being used. |

Luckily this study was done in Sweden where corn is probably not as prevalent as it is in North America. I'm sure the study would not even have gotten off the ground in North America...BIG corn would not allow it! |

I just came across this story/blog about a child with severe corn allergy. I think there are still some things in her diet that are very "corny" and might be causing her problems. NOTE: You have to press "newer posts" at the end of each page. http://alliesabnormalappetite.blogspot. ... style.html |

P.S. The following entry from December 28, 2010 goes to show just how much conflicting information there is out there about corn allergy. There is NO amount of "refining" that will make a corn derivative safe for someone with corn allergy. Would a "refined" peanut product be safe for someone with a peanut allergy? <<<I also spoke to our ENT doctor today, Dr. Edmonson. He told me very directly that Allie is to consume NO CORN OR PRODUCTS OF CORN. He reminded me that Allie's corn allergy is severe and at this point, all corn needs to be removed from her diet. Interesting because her new Neocate formula is 53% corn syrup. I have mixed information about this. Neocate is saying it's safe because the corn syrup is so refined, however Dr. Edmonson said it's not safe. I don't know who to believe.>>> |

The "safe" assumption is that refined products are not safe. I have a severe Corn allergy, but it takes a build up of Corn in my system to trigger a reaction. The once in a blue moon item with Corn Syrup might not cause me to have a reaction, but if I have it every day I will be miserable for a very long time (even months after I stopped eating the food again). |

Probable anaphylactic reaction to corn-derived dextrose solution. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1808842 I think I may have posted this already, but I think it's worth a re-post. |
