We just returned from a weekend trip to Disneyland (and to visit my parents - the main purpose of the trip). We flew with WestJet both ways. Before each flight, the gate attendant called me up to confirm my allergies and ensure I had my EpiPens (or autoinjectors) on my person. Onboard, the flight attendants checked for EpiPens (or other autoinjectors) once again and asked if I would like a buffer zone or full plane announcement made. (The second flight I was only offered the announcement.) This seems to be standard protocol for all WestJet flights we've been on and we're really happy with how they handle (airborne) food allergies. Kudos to them for being so attentive!

:banana Great news! And also such great news that you were able to visit your parents in Florida and successfully fly to spend time with them. Very encouraging!

Since this original post we've flown with WestJet well over twenty times and every single time they have been amazing. On only one flight did they miss the onboard announcement, and I wasn't too concerned because it was only 25 minutes from gate to gate. They still came and checked my allergies and ensured I had EpiPens with me.

We love WestJet's allergy awareness so much that we sometimes even fly out of our way to fly as far as possible with WestJet before connecting on with another airline to our final destination. That is, if WestJet doesn't fly to where we need to go, like Missouri or Alabama.
