Quote:
Some speakers advocated nut-free schools, and others were against them, stating that nut-free schools would “create a false sense of security,” and that a nut-free policy does not address equally prevalent milk allergies.

"If the committee decides to revise the policy, full board approval would be called for, and the process could take a few months, she said." ?? :dungetit

"The hearing came on the heels of schools Superintendent Dr. Janet Robinson’s release of a new administrative guideline in November that called for all of Stratford’s elementary schools to be nut-free after the holiday break. "
I don't understand why an "administrative procedure" can be change by the Superintendent at the (kinda) snap of a finger.....yet the appeal could take months.

In Ontario, most elementary school do not have cafeterias and students eat at their desks under very minimal supervision (a teacher or two roams the halls)

When dd was in JK/SK, grade 5 or 6 students ate in her classroom to watch them (no idea of who had an allergy and certainly NO training) :banghead

I get frustrated by the to ban or not to ban debate because it only deals with a subset of allergens.

GET THE FOOD OUT OF THE CLASSROOM AND CONTAIN THE ALERGEN!

EDUCATE THE ENTIRE SCHOOL COMMUNITY LIKE SABRINA'S LAW STATES!! :verymad

nuff said.... :dungetit
