Post subject:  contacts and chemical sensativties

it's been a while since i've posted on here (oh i love full swing hockey season lol) anyway i was wondering if anyone who has chemical sensativities have issues with contacts, i am going to talk to my family doctor too but i'd love to hear from real people too.

the reason i am asking is that i have an eye condition that causes me to see double and my eye doctor seems to think that a possible solution to making me use only one eye could be to wear one contact so that my brain HAS to use my stronger eye thus elimating my double vision, but i am terrified that i'm going to try this and even the sensative skin solutions will irritate my skin so if anyone has had any probs or even if they thought they might and didn't i'd love to hear your stories

hi dustytiger, since no one has responded to your question yet, I'll just respond by saying I don't know what to advise! I do have some chemical sensitivities, but I don't think I'm as sensitive as you are. For what it is worth, I used to wear contacts, and I never had a problem. (I don't anymore because I found glasses that I really like and I hate worrying about my eyes getting dry with the contacts!)

dustytiger - what about getting a sample of the solution from your eye doc and trying it on your skin first?

If you react, at least you will not have invested in contacts that you cannot wear because you cannot tolerate the solution...

Just a thought!

that's what i was going to do at my next appointment, she explained to me the stuff she would recommend would through some reaction be water by the time it had cleaned the lens, and my family doctor can't gauruntee i won't react, but has encouraged me to try it to solve the problems... i'm worried and excited all at the same time lol

Hey, that's great! I used to wear contacts all the time, but cannot even keep them on for a few minutes now. I figure it's aging. I just am not hydrated enough any more to tolerate them. LOL.
