Post subject:  Gelatin allergy and going to the dentist

Our son is coming due for his first dental visit, I went to our dentist and wrote down information on the dental paste and flouride gel they would normally use. I contacted the company who wanted even more information on each product. So I sent them everything I could find on each bottle. This morning they email back again wanting our dental office to get even more information on lot numbers etc.. I am pleased this company is being so thorough but what worries me is
that if they need to narrow it down so much, the exact lot/flavor /expiry date etc. then there must not be a clear cut answer if it is in fact safe or not. I mean, you go to the dentist for years, they aren't always going to have the EXACT container there year after year.
Has anyone with a gelatin allergy gone to the dentist, had any issues? Our dentist agreed to use our son's own toothpaste if need be for his first visit, but over time I will still need an answer.
