In the past I have reacted to dental freezing - thankfully not life threatening but I did end up quite sick, shaking, hives and dentist wanted me to see an allergist who said I should only be treated with Lidocaine...the dentist passed me off to someone else who of course used something else on me and I kept reacting...I called in and asked what they gave me and of course...well you know the story. I stopped seeing that dentist needless to say.

I found a new dentist who has some experiences with individuals with allergies. He gave me a freezing to be tested with and I did not react. It was a 'plain' epihedrine (sp?). The freezing itself lasts maybe 15 mins...

Anyways...I went in and they can't get my mouth to freeze...they tried everything...with the stuff I react to I stay frozen for days...this stuff...ya my eye froze but nothing else...I need a lot of fillings and I am not sure where to turn. I ended up with a nasty sore throat and sick from the freezing they last gave me.

The dentist feels this is a sulphite allergy - I have reacted to sulpha but from what I understand they aren't entirely the same. I am allergic to lemon which apparently has some relation to sulphites....

So what do you guys with these types of problem do? What should I be pushing to be tested for?
