I got this book from the library yesterday, and I cannot put it down. It is absolutely fascinating.

It features portraits of families from around the world, surrounded by the food that they would consume in one week. Not only is it startling to see the vast difference in quantity of food (like between the North American families, and the one living in a refugee camp in Chad), but I was also shocked by the differences in quality of food, like the amount of fresh vs. processed, or the amount of animal protein in a family's diet. The photographs are wonderful, and my boys were also really engaged by the book. It's a great jumping off point for discussing things like geography, culture, nutrition, economic disparity, and of course allergies (we played spot the egg/peanut containing products :) ).
We've been inspired to take our own week's worth of food photo, as one of our summer projects.

1 son allergic to eggs, peanuts, green peas, chick peas, lentils and tomatoes
(avoiding tree nuts and most other legumes too)
1 son allergic to eggs, and has outgrown peanuts
Both with many environmental allergies, asthma and eczema

Wow - that looks very cool. I will have to see if I can find it at my local library...!

I'm going to look for this too!

18 yr old daughter: no health issues
15 yr old son: allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, egg, fish, sesame,sunflower,mustard,poppy seeds, peas, carrots, some fruits, instructed to avoid legumes(except soy & green beans),pollen, cats, horses, cold urticaria
