Gently cut the banana open lengthwise with two cuts (so it opens like a pencil case) keeping the peel attached. Make horizontal cuts in the fruit and remove sections. Replace those sections with chocolate, caramels, marshmallows etc. Close the peel flap and then wrap in foil. Heat in the coals.

They will be gooey! They usually need to be scooped into a bowl.

These are an alternative to S'mores :bouncyblue

Love this recipe - can't wait to give it a try on our next camping trip. Thanks for sharing!

I would like to share a recipe from the book Scandinavian Baking without Eggs. The dough can be made in advance and set aside in the refrigerator.

Buns for the outdoor Grill

2 packages active dry yeast (¼ oz. in each package)
2 cups water, lukewarm
1½ teaspoons salt
5½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Optional: garlic or herbs

Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm water in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the salt, vegetable oil (and minced garlic, herbs etc. if using) and half of the flour. Mix well. Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a firm dough. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for about 20 minutes in a warm place.
Form the dough into 20 buns of equal size and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for 10-15 minutes, but no more than that.
Brush the grill grid with vegetable oil and place the buns on the grid over the lighted grill, not too near the coals or they will quickly turn black.
Remember to turn the burns over from time to time or they will burn quickly and easily.
