One of our local suppoprt group members was excited to tell us about this website last month and I meant to mention it lthen but forgot in the mad rush of Christmas. Another member spoke of it last night and said that her level of anxiety was greatly reduced in part because this websites offerings as she did not have to search so hard for recipes to try on her family.

You log in and identify your dietary restrictions -it's not perfect-it only offers to restrict fish, shellfish, nuts (peanuts and treenuts), intolerance to lactose, intolerance to gluten, low-calorie, low fat, pork and alcohol (religious dietary restrictions).

It can be a starting point for those with more resrtictions. It tries to use locally grown foods so it varies the menus according to what is regionally in season. It plans weekly menus with portions adapted to your family profile and gives grocery lists as well as recipies.

I am eager to try it to see what it will offer me. :)

Daughter: asthma, allergies to egg, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, most legumes (not soy and green beans) & penicillin. Developing hayfever type allergies.
Husband: no allergies
Me: Oral Allergy Syndrome, Allergic to Birch trees

Interesting. . . .but I'm not sure how accurate.

Second dessert I looked at for no peanut, nut, egg or gluten had Chestnut Paste as a main ingredient. Chestnut is a no, no for nut allergies.

I signed up too but I think we will only be able to use it as a starting point for new recipes because we are avoiding so much collectively. I might send them an email asking them if they plan to list individual things that people want to avoid, e.g. "no egg", "no dairy", that kind of thing. And I was surprised to see that "vegan" was not an option as well.

On the other hand, I am kind of scared to see what the meal plan would be if could actually have one that avoided all our collective allergens. ;) Right now we deal with it by having 2-3 different meals at each mealtime (gah, I know). But to find palatable meals that everyone would eat with none of our allergens, and none of the other stuff that my oldest refuses to eat, like pork and lamb and most vegetables...? I'm really not sure it's possible.
