When my daughter had her reaction to P.B. in February, I checked out the cafeteria when I brought her extra epi-pen to school. I talked to the cafeteria staff and asked them if they cooked with peanuts/nuts. They said nothing they prepared or sold contained peanuts/nuts and that they even removed a very popular cookie that contained macadamia nuts. My daughter doesn't eat there anyway because they can't guarantee the suppliers, but it's nice to know that they consciously exclude peanuts/nuts.

And yesterday my daughter was telling me that they started selling Chapman cones! Needless to say, she was very happy :D . Hopefully this means that the school will start including more safe treats and snacks.

They still have more to learn though. My daughter's class went on a field trip and the teachers were going to take the kids to an ice cream parlour nearby (not safe!) afterwards. Cringe! Luckily, one girl was late and they ended up not having enough time. Just as well...

Make sure that your daughter asks questions every time she buys a Chapmans Product. Some are clearly marked for those of us with our allergy concerns, as safe. But they also do produce other products not safe for those with peanut/nut allergies.Always best to be cautious and careful. Never 'assume' any thing. Just because it is a 'Chapmans' product does not guarantee it is safe. I purchase that product myself, and am very grateful to that company for their diligence to allow allergic people to enjoy treats as well, but I read the package once and then twice, just to be safe. Read once, then read it a second time.
