Post subject:  Safe oils for peanut/tree nut/soy allergic?

Hi there,
I'm allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and soy, and when I went looking for a "safe" oil to use in my cooking, I was amazed to find that the manufacturers I contacted all process peanut and/or soy oils in their facilities - even Mazola, the massive corn oil company, processes peanut oils in the same plants.
I have only contacted a few - Canola Harvest, Mazola, and one other... any chance anyone else has done more research and found a safe source of canola or corn oil? :?:
Thank you!!
Jen

I received that same response from mazola but we've used it for 3 years (in DS's food) without any issue. When I find something that works I don't change brands so we always buy the same veg. oil.
However... we are not avoiding soy so wait and see if anyone avoiding soy and peanuts is able to use mazola.

Thanks very much for your reply! Glad to hear that you've had luck with Mazola.
I figure the chances of cross contamination would be pretty remote - probably ok to try.
Always so hard to tell where to draw the line!!

Also, what I've been told by our allergist is that north american produced peanut oils are so highly refined they are devoid of the proteins that cause reactions. Not sure about soy, though.
