I just picked up some shelled (salted) sunflower seeds at the local Rexal/PharmaPlus. I will try to rince and dry them for baking.

It's worth a shot.

use a substitute ... if only I could find them lol. Still looking locally for these unshelled sunflower seeds. I'll probably find them in the least likely store!

They definitely sell the unshelled ones at Safeway. A previous poster was right about the candy ones, though. I considered buying them after thinking they would be good in granola bars and yeah, they aren't peanut free (I hadn't bought them but had seen them and assumed they would be like the other Spitz). But the unshelled ones are safe and we've used them in granola bars.

Are Safeway stores in Canada?? I've heard of them but never seen one in Ontario before. I'll keep a'lookin'. :)

I'm in Vancouver and there are Safeway stores all over the place here. Might they be called a different name in Ontario? Or, maybe it's just a Western Canada thing.

According to google, there is one in Kenora, etc. If you go to Safeway Canada's website (google it) then you can enter your postal code and it will tell you where the nearest location is. HTH!
