It should be standard practice for every worker to come in to ask (or read and sign a company agenda) to see if there are there any children with health concerns they should know about. A child that was fine the day before could even have an isssue that day they are dealing with. To 'forget' or not follow policy ... :frightened

Good for you for using the Epi. Do not even second-guess. From what I've read, there are two ways to know whether to use the Epi-Pen. One is the medical guideline: if respiration is compromised or if more than one body system is involved (e.g., a few hives may be okay, but with vomiting, not okay).

But the other is less tangible: the parent's instinct/feeling to use the Epi-Pen. If you feel like it's needed, it's needed.

I have read that the most common mistake is NOT using the Epi; that in fact most life-threatening reactions occur in people who HAVE EpiPens but just don't use them. I have never seen that using it is ever truly a mistake.

PS: my 18-month old DS was recently diagnosed with egg allergy as well. I don't understand why the allergist didn't test for it at 12 months when we had other tests; instead we had to have an incident, argh. But he's okay and glad to hear everything is okay with your DD.

DS, toddler: allergic to wheat, eggs, nuts, peanuts, sesame.
