We are planning a trip to Europe and I saw an article on WOW airlines so of course I contacted them about their allergy policy.

Here is my conversation - note my email address has been cut out of the email, start from the bottom up

Dear Mary,

We do not have any special procedure ,you will have to talk to our crew about the allergy and the will inform all the passengers on board.

Kind regards,
WOW air

Thanks you for your response. To be clear on your procedure.

The policy is for the passenger to call the airline 3 days before the flight to alert them to the allergy.

The passenger must also alert the flight attendant about the allergy.

Then what happens? Do you make sure no peanuts and nuts are served by cabin crew? Do you alert passengers that there is someone flying with an allergy? There is no information on your web site – which is not the usual practice. Can you please provide more information because your response is unclear.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Mary,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.
You need to send us an email 3 days before, and we will send it to our cabin crew.
You also need to let the fly attended when you arrive on the plane so the can let the passengers know.

Kindest regards,
WOW air

Your booking reference (if you have one):

Message:
What is your policy for people flying with WOW if you have a peanut/nut allergy?

No buffer zones, no avoidance of allergens?
They will inform the passengers...will they request that they refrain from eating your allergens?

Simple questions but avoided. I hate that!

I persisted and asked for their policy. This is the reply:

Ugh!

That leaves it up to the last minute.

Bring wipes, pre-board and wipe down the surfaces.
Bring your own food dehydrated soups are good. They don't take up much space and you can get boiling water from the staff.

Bring all medicine in your carry-on.

Re: Pre-boarding, I don't request permission. I just do it. No one has ever questioned me about it. They do express concern when the see what I'm doing...but they seem relieved.

I would avoid flying with them if possible. It sounds too unpredictable. Do they regularly serve free nuts or peanuts? That would be another good question to ask, as the residues can be problematic for some.
